Harwell International F.C
Welcome to the official website of Harwell International FC.
Over the years a galaxy of stars have become household names whilst playing for the Atomics. Names such as Ron Harris, John Massingham, Eddie Robinson and Graham Alger simply roll of the tongue when talking about football greats.
A glittering history of recent achievements include winning the North Berks Cup in 1999 and capturing the North Berks League Division 2 title in 2004.
The club won it’s first major trophy in 1978 when the Bob Gibbs inspired Reserve team collected the Reading Jubilee Cup - beating Brightwell 2-1 in an end to end final.
The first team had to wait until 1988 before picking up silverware - this came in the shape of The North Berks Division 3 title. Inter then amazingly followed this up by winning the Division 2 title the following season.
But many regard the late 90’s as the clubs golden period, with the highlight being the 1st team’s North Berks Cup victory over Lambourn in 1999. A final which has since been described as the best ever in the competition. The same year Bob Gibb’s Reserve side retained The Nairne Paul Cup, which they had won the previous season, and also came runners up in the AG Kingham Cup.
The club currently boasts 3 sides, with Roger Bartlett’s first team leading the way in North Berks Division 1. Paul Absolom’s Reserves compete in Division 4, whilst rookie manager Andrew King is guiding the ‘A’ Team in Division 5.
Home games are played at ‘The Lair’ and always attract a passionate partisan crowd.
UP THE ATOMICS!
