Harwell International went into the Berks and Bucks Cup knowing this was there last chance of having a cup run this season and it was Blewbury who stood in their way. After an earlier meeting this season in the league Inter went in front and ended up losing the match 3-1, and this one went exactly the same way. Harwell started brightly as they do most weeks, and for the first 20 minutes the passing was slick and the pace of the team was causing Blewbury problems. It wasn’t long before Blewbury were made to pay went Arren Gray making his first start for the team was sent through on goal and he cooly lifted the bouncing through ball over the on coming keeper to give the home side the lead. It could have been 2-0 moments later as an error by the Blewbury keeper presented Yardley with a one on one but he cut across his shot which went wide of the far post. Inter had been in this position so many times before this season and always aloud the opposition back into the games with a silly mistake, lack of composure or in some cases sheer bad luck. This time it could have been a mixture of all three as Harwell looked to be going in 1-0 up at the break but Dave Bartlett was adjudged to have brought Ross Tyler down on the edge of the box, the resulting free kick was slammed home by Jon Hedges to put the scores level going into half time. Inter had looked sloppy at times in the first half and the commitment and will to win didn’t seem to be there from certain players. Five minutes into the half poor marking gifted Lee hedges a goal with a completely free header from a corner which shouldn’t be happening at this level. Things improved for Harwell and they began to fire shots in and create opportunities but they still looked vulnerable at the back, and it was again a failure to pick up men in the box which aloud Lee Hedges to grab his second as he flicked the ball in with his back to goal. The score didn’t change from then on in but Inter contested the final 20 minutes well and regained some pride back as another game which could have been the elusive first win slipped through their grasp.
